Primary School

Primary School Portal

Elementary Principal Education for the 21st century must accomplish and go beyond the traditional expectations of graduating knowledgeable students with exceptional literacy and numeracy skills. It must contain the critical building blocks of thinking, inquiring and students communicating their learning. These are skills that will provide each child with a truly international and distinctive education that will prepare them well for the challenges ahead. Our curriculum must go even further and educate the whole child. Working with our families and respecting our cultural diversity our curriculum must develop our students into young men and women who are principled, open-minded citizens of the world capable of reflecting on their learning and able to challenge what may no longer be relevant.

Qatar Academy Sidra offers a rigorous curriculum that is influenced strongly by the beliefs and curriculum of the International Baccalaureate Programme as well as recognized educational research institutions such AERO and leading institutions in literacy, mathematics etc. As a Primary Years Programme (PYP) candidate school our programme is growing to encompass the IB Learner Profile as a foundational piece of our curriculum. What we expect students to learn, know, understand and do is achieved through a student-centered approach to learning, with a focus on thinking, an emphasis on interaction, a concentration on character and a culture of inclusion.

The balanced child is a child who is also exposed to the arts, physical education, foreign language studies, as well an understanding of the school’s host nation. Thus our studies go beyond, Language Arts, Maths, Science, and Social Studies to include: Arabic, Islamic Studies, Qatar History, Music, Art and Physical Education.

Technology is a main driver of economic as well as social changes in this era of globalization. In our classrooms we take advantage of an IT-infrastructure designed to deepen student learning. The ultimate aim of our curricular emphasis is to develop our students’ potential to become future leaders in a world where keeping up with the latest changes is of the utmost importance.
