Inclusive Response to Learning

At Qatar Academy Sidra we are committed to each child’s personal success.  We believe that all children have the potential to be academically successful.  The following Inclusive Response to Learning Model is used to guide our proactive response to our students learning needs.

 

Inclusive Learning Model

 

This model assumes that at the core of QA Sidra’s core instruction is the explicit intention to mindfully plan learning engagement that allows students to access concepts through open-ended tasks and through a range of resources.  This approach is called universal design for learning.  Universal design is a mindset to designing engagements for learning that are based around concepts, processes, and skills.  


Universal design for learning ensures that we can 

  • allow all students to learn within their zone of proximal development,develop assessments that are open-ended,
  • allow students to access concepts through a variety of resources and experiences.

Learning Support

As an inclusive school, Qatar Academy Sidra acknowledges, embraces and effectively manages learning differences at an individual and group level, so that learning opportunities are enriched for all members of the community.  

QA Sidra, in collaboration with The Learning Center, can offer a range of learning and language support services for those students who need additional resources to become independent learners.  Acceptance into additional support services is contingent upon the school's ability to provide appropriate services and upon the school’s current capacity to deliver services. 


 

 

 

Services for High Performing and Gifted Learners

We know that the children in our community who are high performing and gifted learners require additional support and services to realize their personal success.  Therefore, as a dynamic and responsive learning community, we are committed to offering a range of services and support to engage and challenge our high performing and gifted learners so that they can be the best they can be. 

The services and support available is grounded in the following essential understandings:

  • High performing and gifted children deserve the opportunity to be challenged so that they can fulfill their learning potential,
  • The IB programme frameworks provide the flexibility to support an inclusive approach for high performing and gifted learners,
  • Effective education of high performing and gifted learners requires a coordinated, whole-school approach.
