QAS CELEBRATES PEACE ONE DAY

Peace is not merely the absence of war and hatred (negative peace / cold war) but also the presence of cooperation, compassion and worldwide justice (positive peace / hot peace).
In celebration of the International Day of Peace ( which is the 21st of September) QA Sidra celebrated the presence of peace on our campuses on 20th of September.
"The term 'peace' originates most recently from the Anglo-French pes, and the Old French pais, meaning 'peace, reconciliation, silence, agreement' (11th century). But, Pes itself comes from the Latin pax, meaning "peace, compact, agreement, treaty of peace, tranquility, absence of hostility, harmony." In this celebration, students, teachers, staff validated the presence of peace in our school but also reinforced and reminded each other of the value of compassion, justice and harmony.
Led by our IB Diploma students, QA Sidra staff and students raised awareness for The Right to Peace through numerous activities. These included inspirational speeches, art projects, interactive activities and connections through languages. Through communication and the shared action between primary and secondary school students, teachers and parents ‘The Right to Peace’ was celebrated as being central to our school culture.
