Life in Doha

Doha experiences a desert climate, characterized by long, hot summers and short, mild winters. During the summer months (May–September), temperatures can reach up to 45°C, often accompanied by high humidity. In contrast, the winter season (November–March) offers mild and pleasant weather, with temperatures typically ranging between 14°C and 25°C, making it ideal for outdoor activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience is required, preferably within an accredited primary, elementary, or secondary school setting.
  • Elementary Teachers: A Bachelor’s degree in Education or Teaching is required.
  • Secondary Teachers: A Bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject specialization is required.
  • All Teaching Staff: Must hold a valid teaching certification issued by a recognized and accredited authority.

Document Requirements

  • The highest academic qualification must be attested by a notary in the country of issuance and by the Qatari Embassy.
  • A valid marriage certificate (where applicable).
  • Birth certificates for dependent children (where applicable).
  • A valid police clearance certificate (criminal record check), duly attested by a notary in the country of issuance and by the Qatari Embassy.
  • A medical clearance certificate confirming fitness for employment, including screening for communicable diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis B and C, and Tuberculosis.

Employment Package and Benefits

  • The school offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, aligned with international standards.
  • Personal income is not subject to taxation in Qatar, allowing employees to benefit from a tax-free salary.
  • Fully furnished accommodation is provided within a residential compound managed by the Qatar Foundation Housing Team, maintained in accordance with international standards.
  • Utilities and services, including electricity, water, and maintenance, are fully covered within Qatar Foundation housing units.
  • Annual airfare entitlement includes economy class return tickets for the employee and eligible dependents to the nearest international airport in the home country. One-way economy class tickets are also provided at the commencement and conclusion of the employment contract.
  • Employees are eligible for a luggage assistance allowance upon initial relocation to Qatar, based on prevailing market rates for shipping unaccompanied air luggage (up to 200 kg for single employees and 400 kg for families).
  • Education assistance is provided for up to three (3) dependent children, from the age of 3 through to the completion of secondary education, within Qatar Foundation schools.
  • Staff are provided with comprehensive international medical and life insurance, in addition to access to state-funded healthcare services in Qatar, for both the employee and eligible dependents
  • Employees benefit from ongoing professional development opportunities, including access to the in-house Education Development Institute, which offers IB-authorized training and a range of professional learning programs.
