Welcome to Qatar Academy Sidra

Since our foundation in 2012, Qatar Academy Sidra has been more than just a school; it has been a sanctuary for growth and a bridge to the world. As an IB Continuum school, we were born from a vision to serve the Qatar Foundation community by offering a rigorous, multilingual international education. We believe in providing our students with “Roots to grow and wings to fly,” ensuring they remain deeply grounded in their local values and heritage while developing the global-mindedness necessary to navigate an interconnected world. Our mission is embedded in our very name—SIDRA—as we strive to build a learning community that is Sustainable, Inclusive, Diverse, Rigorous, and Adaptable.
At the heart of everything we do is our Compass of Care. It is the moral map that guides our daily actions, embodying the values of respect, kindness, integrity, and unity. We are a thriving community of responsible thinkers and innovators, where every member is inspired to soar to new heights. We are also thrilled to announce a transformative new chapter: the upcoming opening of our state-of-the-art, purpose-built campus. Located perfectly at the edge of Education City, this new home offers our students direct access to the world-class ecosystem and facilities of EC, further fueling our commitment to excellence. We invite you to join our journey as we continue to cultivate a space where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered to change the world.

Sincerely,

Mirna Raslan

The Synergy of Excellence: High-Quality Learning at QA Sidra

At Qatar Academy Sidra, we believe that high-quality learning is not the responsibility of one person, but the result of a dynamic partnership. It is a shared journey in which the teacher’s expertise, the student’s agency, and the environment’s inspiration converge.

1. The Teacher: The Architect of Inquiry in an IB school environment

Our educators are more than instructors; they are facilitators of discovery who:

  • Design with Purpose: Crafting concept-based experiences across the IB continuum to ensure deep academic understanding.
  • Empower through Approaches to Teaching (ATT): Using inquiry, differentiation, and global contexts to make learning relevant and inclusive.
  • Foster Critical Thinking: Facilitating structured and open inquiry that challenges students to think creatively.
  • Cultivate Equity: Using personalized strategies and adaptable scaffolds to ensure every child has a path to success.
  • Drive Growth through Feedback: Implementing continuous Assessment for Learning (AFL) to provide timely, specific guidance for the next steps.

2. The Student: The Owner of the Journey

We nurture independent thinkers who take the lead in their own education by:

  • Exercising Agency: Transitioning seamlessly between collaborative teamwork and independent mastery.
  • Leading the Way: Stepping into leadership roles within the classroom as they engage with the teacher’s roadmap.
  • Mastering the “Language of Learning”: Communicating complex ideas clearly and accurately using subject-specific terminology.
  • Reflecting with Intention to identify their own strengths and growth areas
  • Living the IB Profile: Actively modeling the IB Learner Profile attributes and applying essential Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills.

3. The Environment: The Third Teacher

Our learning spaces—including our upcoming state-of-the-art campus—are designed to be active participants in the educational process:

  • Safe & Inclusive: Creating a sanctuary where every student feels a sense of belonging and security.
  • A Place of Discovery: Leveraging a “discovery-led” design that makes the physical space a vital part of the learning journey.
  • Technologically Transformative: Utilizing cutting-edge technology not just as a tool, but to redefine what is possible in the classroom.
  • Culturally Rooted: Strengthening students’ cultural identities while promoting a spirit of global collaboration.
  • Making Thinking Visible: Featuring layouts that amplify student voice and showcase the evolution of their ideas.
